Former Chelsea player and Nigeria captain, John Obi Mikel has revealed he is open to returning to England after spending over a decade at Chelsea.

Mikel, 33, is currently without a club after parting ways with Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor by mutual agreement in March due to objections over the club's insistence that footballers keep playing despite the growing number of Covid-19 cases worldwide at the time.

Mikel has been linked to newly-promoted Premier League side West Bromwich Albion and Championship club Stoke City and has revealed he won't mind going back to England where he won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, Europa League and other titles.

"Yes, there are interested clubs and England is a strong possibility and why not," Mikel told BBC Sport.
"We are currently in talks with clubs and there is absolutely no hurry. I can only wait to see what happens."

Mikel spent 11 years at Chelsea, where he featured in 249 league appearances.
